Curridge Residents' Association will host our annual village litter pick on Sunday 7th April, from 10am until 12 noon at the WI Hall. All equipment will be provided and a range of predefined routes are available, including family friendly options. After an hour or so of litter picking, enjoy complimentary bacon rolls (or veggie option!) and hot drinks at the WI Hall. If you live further out from the WI hall (e.g. Faircross, Arlington Grange, B4009) then let us know in advance using the link below and we can deliver the litter picking kits to you on the day before. goo.gl/forms/b6D3A8QxYRPVgHGp1 If you aren't up to participating in the litter pick around the village but might be able to help with the organisation at the hall ,e.g. kit issue or food & drink preparation, then please let us know using the same link above. We will also host a collection point for used printer ink and toner cartridges to ensure they are recycled and in turn raise money for the village school and Children’s charities like Bullying uk. Curridge WI will host a talk from Thames Water titled "Water and Waste Water Treatment, and Understanding Plastic Soup" on Tuesday 5th February, from 7.30pm at the WI Hall.
The talk is open to everyone and free. The next monthly meeting for Curridge WI is on Tuesday 8th January, and will feature a talk from Daisy's Dream, a local charity that supports children following the loss of a parent. This charity is close to the heart of a number of Curridge residents and subject to ongoing local fundraising efforts.
The meeting will take place from 7.30pm at Curridge WI Hall, is open to everyone and free to attend. We are really trying to reach out to the rural community and are considering sending a bus out once a week, should there be enough interest to get the elderly out for a nutritious cooked lunch and entertainment. We are open weekdays and have a chef on site to cook freshly prepared meals for over 50’s.
We are an independent charity that receives no government funding. Just by following the @fairclosecentre page on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, they will be able to see what we are up to each day. We are also interested to hear from people who may have time to come and run an activity for an hour, give a talk, sell something that may be of interest etc. West Berkshire Council have begun a public consultation on budget proposals which affect some frontline services. We are keen that as many residents, groups and organisations as possible have the opportunity to review the proposals and respond if they want to. The information can be found at
