Planning Applications
Six planning applications were tabled for consideration:
Cooption
Mr Mike Belcher was formally co-opted onto the Parish Council as a Chieveley Ward Councillor. Information about Parish Councillors can be found on the mychieveley web site.
Salt Bins
The Parish Council discussed the need for, and the potential location of, salt bins in the Parish. The salt could be used to melt snow and ice on roads that are not high on West Berkshire Councils road gritting priority list, or on roads not covered by their road gritting plan. The Parish Council identified four potential locations to site salt bins and agreed to ask West Berkshire Highways Department to carry out suitability assessments.
Pot Holes
The Parish Council discussed the poor road surface condition in parts of the Parish and noted a number of roads where pot holes needed to be filled/repaired. A list of these will be provided to West Berkshire Council to investigate and action. Should any member of the community wish to report a problem with a road surface in the Parish then they can do so direct with West Berkshire Council via the ‘Report a Problem’ service on their web site - http://www.westberks.gov.uk/frontline/describe_case.aspx.
Speed Limit Reviews
A number of roads in the Parish were identified for consideration for speed limit reviews. A list of these will be provided to West Berkshire Council to investigate.
Chieveley Burial Ground
The Parish Council received information about the burial ground at St Mary’s Church, Chieveley, and noted that space in the churchyard for burials was running out. It was agreed that further information was required before considering the best course of action and that representatives from the Parish Council would investigate the matter further and report back at a future meeting.
Spotlight…on the Parish Annual Assembly 2013
The February edition of the Latest News included information about the forthcoming Parish Annual Assembly. This takes place at the Chieveley Village Hall & Recreational Centre, High Street, Chieveley at 8.00pm on Tuesday 9th April 2013. Members of the community are encouraged to attend (wine and cheese will be served during the evening) and reminded to put a note of the date in diaries!
The evening is an opportunity to hear what Chieveley Parish Council has done during the year and to hear news from other speakers. Topics include: Superfast Berkshire Broadband; Curridge WI Hall; MyChieveley Web Site; and information about the Site Allocations and Assessment Development Plan consultation. Chieveley is one of the key 'service villages’ likely to have to provide new housing sites in the AONB (area of outstanding natural beauty).

- One was for the erection of a general purpose agricultural building at Rookery Farm, Curridge
- One was for the renewal of an approved application for Priors Court School
- Two related to the Priors Court Cottages development.
