Snapshot…of the Parish Council meeting on 14th June 2016

Planning Applications
Two planning applications were tabled for consideration including:-
1) One for the erection of single storey front infill extension to enlarge existing kitchen
2) One for the change of use of B1 unit to D1 use for Yume Project with associated parking for Unit 2

New Noticeboard Near The Bunk, Curridge
A new and slightly larger noticeboard to replace the current noticeboard at The Bunk, Curridge was approved.

Emerging Minerals and Waste Planning Policy for West Berkshire Council (WBC)
The Parish Council have become aware that as part of the West Berkshire Council ‘Call for Sites’ in 2014 Grundon put forward a site along the B4009 just outside the parish. Others sites include a site near Chieveley services and a site near Bradley Court.  It is anticipated the West Berkshire Council consultation for the Minerals and Waste Local Plan will run for 6 weeks from 1st July 2016 to 5 August 2016 mainly to advise the public, landowners, industry and all interested parties of the minerals and waste sites that have been promoted and to invite comments.

Emerging Minerals and Waste Planning Policy

Reports to West Berkshire Council
The following have been reported to West Berkshire Council to request corrective action.
Downend Lane Junction. Overgrown vegetation affecting visibility has been reported to request this is cut back.
Footpath 38 (Manor Lane, Chieveley).  The path from Manor Lane through to School Road in parts has become impassable.
Granite Setts around the War Memorial.  Some of the setts have become dislodged and loose.
Home to School Transport Policy
A secondary consultation will take place in respect of the 2017/18 Home to School Transport Policy.  The consultation will commence on 6th June and end on 20th July.  http://www.westberks.gov.uk/freeschooltransport
Oare Pond
Unauthorised mowing has taken place at the Oare Pond Meadow without the Parish Council’s permission.  This is damaging the flower meadow.   Letters are going out to local residents to request this ceases. 
West Berkshire Council Chief Executive Ward Visit
This was a successful visit.  Providing a good opportunity to show how funding has been used within the Parish.
Heritage Forum day
Training is available for residents or councillors if they wish to become involved with assessing buildings etc for local listing.
Flooding on Curridge Road
Flooding on the Curridge Road is still an issue.  Largely due to the drains being blocked with silt.  West Berkshire Council have been informed.

FAQ…of the month
Question – The road sign has been damaged or disappeared? There is a pothole in the road, who do I report this to? Answer –  You can report the problem via the West Berkshire Council’s Website 'Report a Problem' service.  You can opt to receive an update on when the works have been carried out through this option. The ‘Report a Problem’ service can be used to report overgrown or damaged public rights of way, flytipping, damaged road signs, verges that need cutting etc. Alternatively you can email the customer services team at customerservices@westberks.gov.uk or telephone 01635 519080.
