It is good to see that the Curridge Playground has been getting a great deal of use over the winter months and we hope this continues now Spring is here. A number of changes will be made in the coming weeks to ensure that the people of Curridge and visitors alike continue to enjoy the playground.
To continue the progress that has been made, The Trustees are proposing a radical change which it is hoped will extend the appeal of the playground still further in the local community.
Given the grass is wearing thin, we think that it is a good idea to tarmac the central recreational area. In addition to providing an easy to maintain playing area, a hard tarmac surface could also see the playground double up as an overflow car park during busy periods, during school runs for example, for up to 26 cars. It would help stop the illegal parking that happens most mornings and afternoons during term time. Whilst the asphalting process itself would cause some traffic disruption along Chapel Lane and the road next to the WI Hall, this will be very short term and worth it in the long term.
The new gate that has been provided will ensure that access to the Playground can be controlled in an orderly manner once the tarmac has been laid and the parking bays marked up, and provide security for the forthcoming 5G telecoms mast installation.
We look forward to residents' feedback.
Yours Sincerely
