Snapshot…of the Parish Council meeting on 14th April 2015 

Planning Applications

Four planning applications were tabled for consideration:

  • One was for repair works to stabilise movement of the southern outside wall.
  • One was for the demolition redundant agricultural barns. Erection of main dwelling with garage. Extensive wider landscape and ecological enhancements and facilitation of an approved flood alleviation scheme.
  • One was for a Hall extension and porch. Renovation of re-cladding barn. New covered way/pergola to barn.
  • One was to replace redundant buildings with secure storage of hay/straw/impliments.

Anesco – Public Consultation
Anesco held a public meeting at Chieveley Village Hall on Wednesday 15 April 2015, regarding the Solar Park Initiative at Hermitage Farm.

Chieveley Parish Annual Assembly

The Parish Annual Assembly took place on 14 April 2015 at the Curridge W I Hall, Curridge RG18 9DZ.  The evening commenced at 8pm.  PCSO Paul Smith was available at the beginning of the evening to meet residents. Presentations were given by Cllr Crispin, Cllr Cowan and Major Simon Greenman who talked about the 77th Brigade and the recent changes at Denison Barracks. 

Superfast Broadband Upgrade - Chieveley P4

Chieveley Exchange – Cabinet P4 which serves 233 premises in total (with more than 85.9% expected to access a superfast service).  The affected postcodes are as follows:

Please note that Superfast broadband (greater than 24Mbps) may not be available for all premises within an individual postcode as they may be served by a different infrastructure (i.e. that is not covered or not yet upgraded) or they may be located too far from the cabinet and only be able to receive a reduced speed.

Spotlight… Chieveley Parish Local Elections

It has been confirmed the Chieveley Parish is an uncontested Parish and now has 5 Councillor posts filled from May 2015.  Three in Chieveley Ward and two in Curridge Ward.  The Parish Council will look to co opt as soon as possible to fill the remaining four vacancies.  If you wish to be considered for co-option please contact the Parish Clerk at [email protected] or call 01635 247507 to have a chat about the Councillor role.


FAQ…of the month..  Question – How are councillors elected?

Answer - The residents of the parish elect members of the Parish Council every four years. At the Annual General Meeting of the Parish Council, held every May, the members elect a Chairman and Vice Chairman for the New Year.

The next Parish Council meeting will take place on Tuesday 12 May 2015 at the Chieveley Village Hall & Recreational Centre, High Street, Chieveley, Berkshire RG20 8RJ at 7.30pm.
