Notes from this meeting issued by the developer, Ressance, on 10th June can be accessed below: ![]()
![]() A voluntary public meeting was hosted on 25th May by developer Ressance, regarding the ongoing planning application for four live & work units adjacent to 2 The Firs, Curridge Road. Present from Ressance were Director Duncan Crooke and Planning Executive Sarah Melton. Ressance is the same developer behind the ongoing outline planning application for two dwellings off Chapel Lane, however this application was not the subject of this meeting. The application for 2 The Firs, Curridge Road, is for combined four bedroom homes with integrated work space of around 60 square meters, suitable for office or crafts type activities falling under use class B1. The work space would attract business rates, in addition to council tax payable on the domestic part of each property. The mixed use of the property would be defined under planning and/or section 106 conditions, making it (in theory) difficult for the work space to be absorbed into the domestic dwelling at a later date. Curridge Residents' Association have been informed that Grundon are considering a new soft sand quarrying application for a site to the north east of the B4009 and Fishers Lane junction, to be accessed from the B4009.
This is in response to a 2014 call from West Berks District Council for new extraction sites as part of a new Minerals and Waste Development Plan. From this site Grundon expect to extract up to 500,000 tonnes of material over a 12 year period, with around 16 vehicle movements per day. A three week long public consultation is expected to be launched during the summer this year, when local residents will be able to express their views on this proposal. An unofficial action group has already started to consult local residents, headed by Caroline and Mark Davies. For more information please email mailto:[email protected] |
