It is proposed that transport will only be provided to the nearest school. While this will not affect children in areas where their catchment school is their nearest school, it will affect the vast majority of children attending Curridge School who, while in the catchment area for The Downs, are actually more likely to live closer to other schools such as Trinity and Kennet. These changes will affect pupils currently in Year 5 and below.
Children wanting to attend The Downs School from the Curridge area from September 2016 will be required to buy a Fare-Paying seat through the Council. This will cost parents £440 per child per year, with only a 10% discount for siblings. There is no guarantee however that the council will provide buses on these routes and parents will therefore have to make their own arrangements for getting children to and from Compton.
This proposal will also affect children living in certain parts of Hermitage and Chieveley.

The consultation closes on July 10th
Please note that these changes do not affect your choice of secondary school - Curridge School remains within the Downs School catchment area - but may limit your options because of the transport changes.
