Chieveley Parish Council – latest news

5/9/2017

The key piece of news for Curridge is that Sandie Allen was elected in the recent Curridge Ward By-Election.

Snapshot…of the Parish Council meeting on 11 July 2017.

Planning Applications
Consideration was given to one application at the meeting for a lattice tower mobile phone mast.  No objection was raised. Further information about Planning Applications can be found on the  HYPERLINK "http://www.westberks.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=15199" \t "_blank" Planning advice section of the West Berkshire Council website

The MUGA at Chieveley Recreation Centre
A review of the grant support and the MUGA Maintenance Agreement with Chieveley Recreational Centre took place.  An offer to provide support for the MUGA to be swept on a regular basis and to consider purchasing necessary equipment to make the job easier has been put to the Chieveley Recreational Centre Committee.

The future of the Children’s Playground at Chieveley Recreational Centre
Both the Parish Council and the Recreational Centre are unclear if the community want the facility replaced when it comes to the end of its life. A simple survey to seek community views was thought to be a good idea and the Parish Council agreed to lead on this.

Devolution of Services by West Berkshire Council
The Parish Council keep receiving requests for funding support for services provided by West Berkshire Council which have been affected by swingeing budget cuts.  Namely the Library Services, priority highway salting routes to the community, cleaning of road signs and PROW maintenance to name a few.  We hope residents will sign up to receiving important information through email from the Parish Council to have the opportunity to be aware and comment on local services, important matters affecting the local area, environment and with impact on public funding.

Spotlight –  The Parish Council have identified that they do not have a way to engage with the community quickly to share important information and seek community views and feedback on consultations.    Looking for someone in the Parish who can help set up surveys to put to the community electronically, manage the data and provide survey data summary reports for the Parish Council. Initially we want to find out what people think in the community about contributing to the West Berkshire Council Library Services and feedback on the Chieveley Recreational Centre outdoor play facilities.  Other consultations likely to follow.  If you have experience in setting up surveys on-line, engaging the community audience for feedback and have some time to offer we would like to hear from you.

Looking for a local person …. who can clean three bus shelters once a month (two in Chieveley and one in Curridge) as there will be a vacancy from October onwards. Own transport needed. If you are interested please contact the Parish Clerk for more information and hourly rate details at [email protected].

By-Election of Curridge Ward Results … the successful candidate was Sandie Allan in the recent by-election to fill the Curridge Ward vacancy.

FAQ…of the month
